The Suzuki Method is a world-famous system for learning to play an instrument based on the philosophy that every child can learn music. The creator, Dr. Shinichi Suzuki of Japan, recognized a distinct connection between learning one's native language and learning music. We learn language from our surrounding environment. For instance, a child born in Japan and brought to the United states will learn to speak American English through imitation and repetition. We all learn to speak through encouragement, correction, persistence, and praise from our parents and teachers.
Students who are feeling under the weather or who are unable to travel to their lesson due to an unforeseen circumstance are now able to take their lesson via Skype! The option of remote lessons is not just for newcomers, but for all of my students to take advantage of this fantastic technology! When students have questions between lessons, they can show me exactly what they need. When students go on vacation or are under the weather, they can keep up with their musical education to return to my studio without missing a beat.
