Barbara Demaio Caprilli Voice lessons in Winston Salem, NC
As a teacher I have over 30 years of experience in both Opera and Musical theater; I teach Classical Voice, based on Italian pedagogy, as well as Musical theater belting and Contemporary Commercial Music using the principles of Somatic Voicework (tm) The LoVetri Method. Healthy singing and a good technique have preserved my voice through the years; let me share this technique with you. Throughout my career I have worked with some of the greatest teachers and coaches in the world.
My college teacher was Florence Birdwell, well-known as a teacher of Musical theater; Kristin Chenoweth, Kelli O'Hara and Lara Teeter are just a few of her famous pupils with whom I have performed. When I moved to New York I was fortunate enough to become a part of the studio of Nancy Stokes Milnes, the renowned Master Teacher of Voice who helped me find the repertoire which gave me an international career as a Verdi and Puccini specialist in theaters such as La Scala in Milan, Arena di Verona and throughout the world.
I am now the Artistic Director of American Singers' Opera Project, North Carolina, and part of the Voice Faculty at University of Central Oklahoma in Edmond, Oklahoma. I have a BM and MM in Voice Performance from Oklahoma City University and DMA Vocal Pedagogy candidate at Shenandoah Conservatory (Virginia).

Testimonial by Peter Perret
Barbara DeMaio Caprilli nearly steals the second act with her shenanigans-filled portrayal of the Gingerbread Witch. Her costume makes the phrase "over the top" seem like an understatement
Testimonial by Roy C. Dicks
This is a virtuoso outing for the sole vocal performer, soprano Barbara Caprilli, in her Long Leaf debut, as well as the strings of the Carolina Chamber Symphony, brilliantly prepared and conducted by Al Sturgis. The text is twelve beautifully-conceived poems that can ably stand alone. Caprilli was brilliant as she constantly changed vocal techniques from talking to Grand Opera-ish, to a simpler style followed by Sprechstimme, and then back again...In short, this was an artistic triumph in every respect
