David Ormai I tailor my teaching to each individual student. For young children I primarily use the Suzuki method. For intermediate level students and adult beginners, I incorporate some components of both Suzuki and traditional methods (Galamian, Delay etc.). I hold all of my students to high standards and hard work. Naturally, each student will progress at his/her own rate and will not be judged or compared to another student.

I believe that the most basic elements of music and playing technique are the most important. Rhythm, Intonation, tone quality, and organic expression are at the forefront of my priorities. I believe in having a good balance between technical work and musical refinement, though different students will need more or less of either.

David was my sons violin teacher for some years in Ann Arbor. His low-key nature and upbeat attitude are very helpful in his teaching style. As a parent I found him to be flexible, helpful, A strong teacher leading by example. He actually performed in each recital he had for his students. He remains a good friend to all.

David Ormai has been my son's teacher for three years. David is an excellent violinist and a wonderful performer. David is a young teacher who works really hard at maintaing a top professional standard and at always educating himself, as well as at educating the parents, who are an essential part in Suzuki string education. David teaches a combination of Suzuki and traditional method, which is ideal for our family, because we think both learning by ear and sight reading important for music skill development. David is a gentle, extremely patient, soft-spoken, dedicated and intelligent teacher.

He allows the student to progress at their own pace, while developing a beautiful tone and he knows what to do to help them practice and play without pain. David is a very warm-hearted person, towards whom a child can develop love, dedication and loyalty and obligation to perform their best, without feeling pressured or frustrated. We are looking forward to the years to come for our son under David's guidance.
