Key People
Sarah Nation
Guitar Instructor, (812) 234-7990
Sarah Nation began her musical career by playing with church bands as a teenager. She holds a BA in Music from Indiana State University. While in school she had many valuable experiences, including playing for the ISU big band and jazz combos. Additionally, she holds a professional guitar certificate from Berklee Online in Jazz Guitar.

Since relocating to Terre Haute in 2010, Sarah has played for the Crossroads Repertory Theater, various cover bands, small group jazz ensembles, big bands, and Pinball Heroes - for which she wrote the material. She currently plays with The Streamliners. They play a wide range music from the 60s to the present including R+B, Country, Blues, and Rock. This wide range of musical experience gives her a broad understanding of the guitar and its place in popular, rock, folk, jazz, and classical settings.

Sarah has been professionally teaching private guitar lessons for fifteen years and strives to instruct each student in the way that works best for them. She has recently published Complete Guitar Theory to better facilitate the instruction of her advancing students.

Learning a few basics on guitar can go a long way towards personal enjoyment or its use as an accompaniment instrument, but for the student who wants to delve deeper, the opportunities are nearly limitless. Guiding students towards musical literacy with a clear understanding of their instrument enables them to continue to learn and grow on their own for the rest of their lives.

I am so thankful for the sincere interest that this business has in the musical development of my children. This is a mission for them, not just a business. Thank you for all your efforts in helping them to develop their talents!

After piano lessons with Jason for a little more than a year, all I can say is how impressed I am with how much I feel I've progressed from when I started. Jason is an incredibly talented instructor who is excellent at adapting to the needs of his students to help them reach their goals.

My son had his first piano lesson today and he absolutely LOVED it! The first lesson is free, and it's pretty cheap after that. The place was very clean and organized. The staff was super helpful, intelligent and caring! I definitely recommend this place if you or someone you know is interested in learning about music. They offer drums, guitar, piano, brass and strings. Maybe more. Please check the place out, you'll be happy you did!

My 14 year old son started lessons two years ago. Mentioned i would love for him to play the piano in my wedding. Jason, piano instructor, got my son ready and he sounded great. Really happy how Jason has taght my son to play well enough to the point he played in front of a large crowd. Thanks Jason!!

I have 3 daughters who have worked with both Sarah and Jason. I highly recommend both of them. Each are friendly, fun and work well with teenagers. They strive to find ways to engage them and motivate them to practice. Jason has challenged my girls to play pieces they didn't think they could. The new building is great and the prices are reasonable. We enjoy having the opportunity to see our girls perform in recitals twice a year. Heartland is growing and getting even better. We may find ourselves adding drum lessons to our schedule.

I have been taking lessons from Jason for a couple of years now. My daughter had also taken lessons from him. Jason is a great teacher with a passion for music. His patience with little ones is admirable. I would highly recommend taking lessons here!

I've been a student in the Drummer's Program for three years now. As an adult student in the Hobbyist Curriculum, I thoroughly enjoy my weekly lesson with Dan Lauby. I had always wanted to learn how to read music, and now I can.

Playing along with songs I know and songs I've never heard, working on charts, playing exercises from Dan's book "Drumming With Understanding", and discussing music theory with Dan has enriched my life. I highly recommend the Drummer's Program for anyone who wants to formally study drum set with real professionals.

My boys have been taking lessons for about six years from Jason Allen and Sarah Nation both violin and piano. They are both very intelligent in their area of expertise. They are great teachers and push their students to make sure the students accomplish their goals.

Our 3 children have taken lessons with Mr. Jason and Ms. Sarah for roughly a year now. Even starting with my little one at age 4 they have made music fun and engaging for all of them. I love the fact that each child is encouraged to play the genre of music they thrive on. Rewards and incentives work! And when Recital time comes around they are nervously pumped to show off their skills!! I would recommend Heartland Academy to friends in a music beat!!
