Music is for Everyone!
Heartland Music Together Our mission We believe every child can sing when given nurturing musical support from an early age. We are dedicated to helping children (and their grownups!) develop their musical abilities while sharing the joy of music making together. We share a passion for bringing music to our community in a way that's joyful and empowering for everybody. Our vision: a world where everyone can sing - and every voice is valued!

Beginnings... Heartland Music Together started in Louisville in 2004, with just six families in our first class. These families told their friends, and we started to grow. We are very proud that half of our families still come to us because of a friend's recommendation!

Today we are a staff of multiple teachers leading classes all over the Louisville KY metro area. Thousands of families have joined us since we started, and many families return for years with their second and third children. In November 2014 we celebrated 10 years of sharing music with our community. What fun!... And results

We hear from our alumni families all the time. Parents tell us their children are now in school or church choirs, and even music theater. Many of our graduates are now happily playing instruments, and amazing their teachers with their musical skills. We hear how children sing all the time at home, using Music Together songs to express their feelings and thoughts-and even more wonderfully, they're comfortable making up their own songs. They've learned at a deep level how to use the language of music to express themselves.

Parents also tell us their children's class experience helped them become comfortable in group settings with children and adults of all ages, revel in their creativity, and discover new ideas to share and appreciate. This is an excellent preparation for formal education-and, indeed, all of life! Not just for children

Over the years, parents and caregivers have told us how our classes have helped them reclaim their own singing voices, and reconnect with their children in new ways. We've seen a number of friendships blossom, kindled by this wonderful shared experience.

"We have had such a WONDERFUL time this semester, and are really looking forward to the winter session. I love being able to share these experiences with my kiddos, and find it really therapeutic myself. It can change my whole mood and outlook on the day. Thanks for the wonderful work you do!" - Caleb and Emily's mom

A really fun experience. My daughter loved it when she was a toddler, and I'm going to sign her little brother up soon too.

The teachers are wonderful, it's just the right amount of time and the schedules and locations are very convenient. We've been going for a year now and plan to continue!

My two little ones love Heartland Music Together. At 19-months-old they seem to get more and more out of each class. We love playing the music at home too. They love dancing and singing to the music whenever it's on.

As an introvert, I was hesitant to sign up my then 6 month old for music together, but I needed to get out of the house for a bit. Four years and another kid later, we are still attending classes. When the kids age out, I think I will miss music class as much as they will. :)

An AMAZING experience. Our 2 children have looked forward to these classes for years! Ms. Miriam, Ms. Karen and Ms. Lorna make the classes so fun that the children don't realize how much they are learning. We also sing along to the CD's in the car, hold our own "classes" at home and sing the songs before bedtime. I enjoy watching my children grow as the classes and months go on, becoming so comfortable in the class that they request songs and run to the teacher for a hug at the end!

I cannot sing enough praises for these classes. We've now taken our two kiddos (ages 2/4) for a little over a year and they absolutely love them. They're introduced to new music in a low pressure environment that lets kids be kids. Some weeks they sing every word, some weeks they just take it all in .... but now they know so many songs and have a deeper appreciation for music in general. This series is a must do, in our book!

My daughter and I have LOVED this program! We started before she was one and just finished our 4th session! When we are in the car or at home playing she will clap to the beat, pat her lap, stomp her feet, and do all the things we have done during class. She loves to have the CDs playing while she is in her play room and insists that I sing songs from class at bedtime.

It is so fun to see how much she has learned at such a young age! I also cannot say enough wonderful things about the teachers that we have had! We have had Ms. Karen and Ms. Miriam and loved both of them. My daughter can be shy and a little timid in new situations, but during class with Ms. Karen she was the first one to run and hug her after our goodbye song!

Both of these teachers are very nurturing and make sure to create an environment where the kiddos feel comfortable and safe. I will always remember these experiences with my daughter as she gets older and I know she will always remember her first teachers!

I can't say enough good things about this music program, We started in the baby class when my son (now almost two) was only 6 months old and have loved every minute of it. It's amazing to watch as he grows and learns in class and he has developed into quite the music lover, he can match different tonal patterns, keeps beat and has started singing along to the songs in the car when we listen to the CD.

Miss Miriam (and all the other teachers) are great about catering to the needs of all the different personalities and ages of the kids in class and encourages them to participate (or not)! in their own way. I have a feeling when I look back on these early years of my son's life, Heartland Music together will be a very big part of my cherished memories of his childhood.

We have been going to Heartland Music Together classes for over a year now and I can't tell you how much our son loves our weekly music class. Ms Karen is an amazing instructor who understands the needs of children and allows them to participate in the way that suits them best. Our music time is an hour each week that my son and I can bond and spend quality time together while learning new songs and enjoying the company of other families. We look forward to continuing our music journey with Heartland!

My boys were in Music Together with Ms. Miriam as toddlers/preschoolers and we look back on the experience with such fondness. They loved coming each week to play and sing and I loved getting reassurance from Ms. Miriam. My youngest refused to sit in a circle or participate in a conventional way...and she assured me that this was normal and to be expected. And sure enough she was right. He sang songs and eventually joined us on the carpet :) What a memorable experience.

A wonderful program for preschoolers. All the teachers are excellent and there are tons of options for class times and locations. We have lots of great memories and have made some good friends here!

Both my daughters and I look forward to our music class every week. It is a bonding time for us. The program is developmentally appropriate (meaning kids can be kids) and evidence based (meaning they really are learning the fundamentals of music by doing). Music class has helped me use music in our daily routines, including calming tantrums and easing transitions.

My 3 year old sings all the time, has great rhythm and is creating her own songs. My 1 year old amazes me by clapping/laughing along, "singing" and dancing. The instructors are fun, talented and knowledgeable. You can try a class for free and you will be hooked! There's lots more information on their website. And yes, it really is as good as it sounds!

I've been taking my son and daughter here for years. They absolutely love it! I've had different instructors and they're all fabulous. The best part is that the kids don't have to sit in circle time. They're free to walk around and learn as they want. This was so important because my son won't sit still for a minute and they fully understand.
