Martin Music Studio The thing I value most of all in a teacher-student relationship is trust. Trust from the student comes from the teacher being prompt and consistent in lesson attendance, always being patient with mistakes and questions, giving honest and fair evaluations of progress, and never using ridicule or intimidation as a teaching tool. Trust from the teacher comes from the student being consistent and prompt in lesson attendance, listening and asking any questions that come up during the lesson, and practicing thoughtfully and consistently between lessons.

My goal in teaching is to provide each of my students with the best possible music education, to help them reach their full potential on the instrument, and to encourage them to build more of their own musical experiences through performance and concert attendance of their own. All of my students have the opportunity to perform solos or chamber music at my annual studio recital. My advanced drum and percussion students also get opportunities to perform with the orchestras I play in, when we need extra percussionists.

I received my Bachelor of Music Degree from the University of Alberta in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, where I studied with Brian Jones. After my Bachelors Degree, I completed a two year program focusing on drumset performance with Brian Thurgood at Grant MacEwan College, also in Edmonton. During these years I played as an extra with the Edmonton Symphony and spent four summers playing with the National Youth Orchestra of Canada.

Hi! My name is Alpa Patel. My six year old son, Deven Patel, has been taking lessons from Mr. Scott. He started when he was five years old. Mr. Scott would come to my place and teach him how to play keyboard. He is always punctual and prepared for the class. Mr. Scott is also flexible with his schedule. My son has learned to play piano from him really well. I would recommend Mr. Scott to any other parents

Scott is an extremely dedicated teacher. He is enthusiastic and truly devoted to the education of his students, and is willing to work very hard for them in a way that many teachers are not. Scott isn't simply someone doing what he does to collect a paycheck; he's truly passionate about music and about teaching music to other people, and that is why lessons with him can be such a rewarding experience
