San Jose Academy Of Music We are a unique school. Unlike most other places that provide lessons, we are not a store, nor a retail establishment. We are a private, specialized school with the ability to make our own decisions in a home environment. And, due to this status, we can focus all of our energies on creating and maintaining our well-designed programs, attracting and retaining gifted instructors, and paying attention to all of our students as individuals.

We offer lessons for the following instruments: classical violin, classical voice, classical and jazz piano and classical guitar, drums, voice, harp, flute, clarinet, saxophone, jazz, and choir at all levels and ages. Instrument technique - posture and position, ear-training, and theory such as note-reading and rhythm are emphasized in these private one-on-one lessons. Above all, musicality and expression are explored.

Our son has been learning Piano at SJAM since 2014 when they were originally located at Point Church. For the first 3 years, he learnt under the guidance of Ms. Leah who is super engaging with little children and had made music fun to learn. Since 2017, he has been learning with Mrs. Ophelia, who is the Director of SJAM. Mrs. Ophelia is an incredible teacher.

Our boy has grown tremendously in his musical abilities under her guidance. She stresses on the importance of correct technique at a young age and really works 1:1 to ensure that the child is successful. She is very patient and really strives for excellence. Working with her, our boy has taken on competitive exams and has had the opportunity to perform festival recitals at the California Music Teacher Convention.

He continues to learn and grow there! More recently after the pandemic, they opened their own studio location. Though smaller than their previous place, we are very excited that he can learn in person again.

I highly recommend you to enroll your child or children here. They have competent teachers and it shows in my children's improvement! Overall they have great service!

This place is amazing! I've been taking piano and singing lessons with Eric for almost a year, and I highly recommend it. I've tried a couple other teachers in the area and there's no comparison. Not sure what the reviewer below is talking about. They're *very* clear with their prices and cancellation policy, and the prices are fair. I've never had a confusing time with payment.

Their staff and admin are super approachable and friendly. Their teachers (especially Eric in my case) are all musically talented, but most importantly, they're good at teaching and gauging your abilities, even as a new student. They also teach to various curriculum like Suzuki and Royal Conservatory of Music (RCM), which is awesome.

Do not send your child here, they only want to steal your money. Gave me an extremely difficult time when i tried to cancel my childs lessons, they charged us for not showing up to lessons we clearly told them we were not going to show up to, and they charged us late fees on lessons for a month while we had no idea until they called to make sure we remembered to pay lessons we canceled the month before. Ridiculous and very unprofessional management dealing with customers, my child no longer wanted to continue playing any instruments after what we went through with them. Shocked that this place has over a 4 star rating.
