The Brain Garden Piano Studio Learning to play the piano offers students the rare combination of having fun while developing a skill that will benefit the student throughout their life. Every student has different goals, strengths and weaknesses; it's my job to tailor each lesson to meet the specific needs and desires of the student. From the beginning we work on building a strong foundation, practicing technique and posture, learning notes, fingers and rhythm. I specialize in classical, baroque and romantic piano styles.

Hello, my name is Dustin and I am passionate about playing piano and empowering others to learn to play. Born and raised in Alaska, I started piano lessons when I was 14 years old, and, while some would say that is a late start, I believe it's never too late if you're truly passionate about learning to play.

At the age of 17 my family moved to San Antonio, where I continued taking lessons under Marsha Perkins, a dedicated and skilled instructor. She encouraged me to enter many statewide and national competitions, and under her guidance, I performed with great success, placing first in a number of them. As a music major at UTSA, I was awarded the highest music scholarship available for Piano Performance, and found myself fortunate to study under renowned pianist and composer Dr. Elisenda Fabregas.

My daughter is about to start taking lessons with Dustin; she is 4 years old and has an interest in music. I have known Dustin for many years, and I will tell you he is a knowledgeable man with patience and passion for all things music. I observe him with my daughter and I chose Dustin as our teacher based on the way she trusts him and listens to him. Mr. Stephens gets down on her eye level and puts in the extra care and attention to detail. I confidently recommend him to anyone else who would like to learn piano. Dustin is a unique instructor and a good person.

Dustin has been such a breath of fresh air. He enjoys what he does and it shows. I see the energy he puts into my daughters lessons and watching her learn and grow is so much fun. Thank you Dustin. You are a positive influence in my kid's life.

Dustin is a great piano teacher. As an adult learner, he was able to focus on fun and relevant. He has a good basis for theory and context and is able to have a mature discussion. Relative to my daughter, he was able to bring the discussion to her level so she could have a positive experience. Regardless your skill level or age, he's a must meet.
