Violin With Anna Harmony, NC

Music is a gift!
Hello, I am Anna. Teaching is special to me because I get to share the gift of music that I have been given with others. I also enjoy meeting people and developing relationships. I especially enjoy teaching young children. My teaching experience began with two piano students, ages 9 and 7 followed soon after by three violin students, ages 10, 8, and 7. Since then, I have expanded my studio with some very talented and eager students!

I began playing the violin at the age of five. I received a variety of musical instruction throughout the years, but I was mainly taught using the Suzuki method. Classical music remains my favorite to play and listen to, although I also enjoy playing hymns and fiddle tunes. Besides violin, I have also had some piano instruction, during which I studied music theory and fundamentals such as scales and chords.

Do you want to learn how to play the violin? Now is the perfect time to start! No one is too young or too old. Contact me and I will be so happy to help you!

In choosing a method to teach with, the most important thing is that it is enjoyable for everyone involved and that it works. I grew up with the Suzuki method, so I often recommend that and have used the Suzuki books with a couple of my students so far. However, I have also been glad that my music education was complimented by other styles of playing and a repertoire that was expanded beyond what I learned in Suzuki, so I recommend that for my students, as well. We will work together to come up with a style and method that best suits you. The most important thing about learning an instrument is that you enjoy it!

You do not need to have a violin before you contact me for lessons as most students will not start out with a violin in their first lesson anyway. I can help you in getting a violin, including knowing when.

Most people choose to have a half hour lesson once a week, which I recommend as a good pace. However, for a beginner student (especially if he or she is young), fifteen minutes at a time twice a week may be a more productive schedule. Once a student becomes more advanced, they will often move to a forty-five minute or one hour lesson. I will work with you to find the perfect amount of time so that the student can get the most out of their lesson.
