We Learn Piano Amy Basch is an experienced pianoteacher in Columbia Maryland, located in Howard County; she also teaches in Central Maryland. She is dedicated to meeting each student where they are, and inspiring them to develop their full potential as a musician. Whether you are a beginner, intermediate or advanced student, Amy will challenge you to expand your musicality and technique in a wholesome, fun, and engaging atmosphere.

Anyone can learn to play the piano. Talent can be developed. The idea that says talent was dished out to some people, and not to others is simply false. When a student possess the determination to master a particular song or instrument, it can be accomplished. Music must always be taught by a piano teacher in a sequential manner, so that each concept builds a foundation for the next. I enjoy being able to take the complex elements of music and simplify them for a piano student, in a way that is easy to grasp and understand.

I didn't realize how easy piano was until I worked with Amy. She is so supportive and so kind, even when you make a small mistake she doesn't jump all over you, instead she gives you positive feedback. She also has very unique ways of helping you remember what she is teaching you. I was able to memorize the notes on the piano after just 1 lesson.

Listening to Amy practice the piano when she was growing up was always a delight to this mom's ear! For hours I would enjoy how she poured her whole being into the enjoyment of communicating through music. Through the years Amy's students' recitals always clearly demonstrate that she has instilled the love and enjoyment of music into her students.

Their technique is developed and they display musical expression! What a treat! If you are seriously considering taking piano lessons it would be worthwhile to give Amy Taylor a call! Playing piano duets and trios with Amy has always been stretching and inspiring and fun for me personally!

I didn't think Zoom piano lessons would work, but I was surprised how well it worked. Amy is such a professional she made the transition from in person learning to virtual easy for me. I look forward to my lesson every week.

Amy works well with our child and her teaching style is appropriate for instilling confidence and a love of music. Her passion for music is evident in the way she teaches. She makes learning fun by offering to perform duets as well as encourage our daughter to create her own music. We appreciate the convenience of having an instructor that can come to our home because it saves us time and allows us to hear the music in our home, which is a treat. Amy's patience, experience, knowledge, and child centered approach to teaching has made learning piano a very positive experience for our family and I would highly recommend her to others!

We have two daughters who had very different levels of enthusiasm about learning to play the piano. Amy managed to quickly find strategies to motivate each of them and they are both loving their lesson time AND their practice time! And recently with social distancing, she is even making FaceTime lessons work for everyone. We cant thank Amy enough are look forward to the coming years!

I am an adult student (>50 yrs old.:-)) and have received piano lessons from Amy for over 10 years now. I really appreciate her enthusiasm, professionalism, diverse music expertise and patience (I might speak for myself but as an older student you just don't learn as quickly as youngsters). I have learned so much from her! Not only did she teach me the technical 'basics' (playing scales, reading notes), but also how to play a variety of music that I like (anything from rock, blues, folk, jazz to classical music) to composing my own piano music which I really enjoy doing. Lately we have also ventured into advanced piano theory books and singing Solfege (method of ear training where you learn how to sing a piece of written music at first sight). If you are eager to learn, Amy will take you there. She certainly knows her music and makes it fun and entertaining!

We started with Amy just over 6 months ago for our 7 year old son. The lessons have been going so well that we had him play in our wedding a few weekends ago. I never imagined him playing Pachelbel's Canon comfortably at a wedding! Amy is so fantastic that we recently started our 5 year old daughter with her too. The kids love her 'good practice reward system' and we appreciate how she keeps them disciplined and focused during lessons. With the holidays around the corner we can't wait to hear what Amy has them working on next. We just love her!
