Wheaton Yamaha Music School The school's programs provide the young child with an introduction to basic principles of music relative pitch, notation, melody, harmony, and rhythm all in an atmosphere that is nurturing, rewarding, and fun. Children play to learn, and their natural musical abilities flourish; the solid foundation for a lifetime with music is built.

Our classes are taught by teachers who are college graduates in music. They are energetic, well qualified musicians, screened through interviews and testing, then trained by Yamaha's educational staff. You will find our teachers to be warm, bright, enthusiastic, and eager to work with young children and their parents.

In our group lessons a close partnership between parent, child, and teacher develops. Together we explore the world of music in class so that you and your child can continue this adventure at home. Our homework assignments strengthen concepts and skills that have been taught in class.

I have gone to the Wheaton Yamaha Music School since before kindergarten. I took Primaries 1-4, and then was the first ever private student. They have taught me everything I know about music, piano playing, and technique. My background in music theory is solid, and my playing is now helping me place in talent shows, and scholarship competitions. I have attended music summer camps several times, and applied to Interlochen (one of the country's most prestigious music schools) for this summer.

I highly recommend Wheaton Yamaha Music School. My son has been taking lessons there for over seven years. He really likes going to his lessons. He has an excellent relationship with his teacher, who is very pleasant to deal with, is supportive of my son, treats him with respect, and takes great pleasure in his progress. There are lots of good performers, but few good teachers. The teachers at Wheaton Yamaha Music School are good performers and good teachers.

Wheaton Yamaha Music School has been a great place for my boys (6 and 9 years old) to learn piano! Everything about it has worked really well for us. Mr. Calvin is a very knowledgeable, encouraging teacher. The group classes have been perfect for my social kids, and playing with other classmates has helped them learn a lot musically too. (They do offer private lessons too.) My boys are challenged each week to keep progressing while also feeling a sense of pride with what they've accomplished.

The songs and style of teaching are engaging enough that I never have to fight with my kids about practicing or going to lessons--they enjoy it! I grew up taking piano lessons but only learned how to read music--I didn't learn much about theory or how to improvise or really use my ears. Because of the teaching approach used here, my 9-year-old has already composed a couple songs of his own!

During the pandemic, Wheaton Yamaha Music School has followed guidelines to make it a safe place for my kids to continue taking lessons. They've even offered virtual lessons as an option. We are really grateful for all that our kids have learned and experienced through Wheaton Yamaha Music School!

Wheaton Yamaha is run by a gifted and inspiring man, who has hired other positive and wonderful teachers. My son still, after 6 years of classes, looks forward to lessons, happily practices and is uplifted after every time he goes to this school. This is a excellent investment in our son's self confidence as well as skill.

My 8 yr old daughter has had a wonderful experience in Ms. Raluca's music class this past year or so. Ms. Raluca has contagious energy and enthusiasm, and is very organized. We've been very pleased thus far and recommend Wheaton Yamaha Music School to anyone interested in giving their children a wonderful foundation of music education.

My six year-old daughter has been taking group music lessons with Yamaha for about a year and a half. We couldn't be more pleased with the lessons she is receiving and the progress she is making. The classes are very engaging, and the Yamaha method is amazing. I often think about how I wish I could have learned music in this way as a young child. The instructors are knowledgeable and fun-- they connect very well with children. My daughter's music lesson is truly the highlight of her week. This is a great place to get young ones started in music and piano! Thank you Mr. Calvin and Miss Raluca!

Wheaton Yamaha Music School is the perfect introduction to music education. The teachers are engaging and patient. The combination of learning by ear and reading has been perfect for my children. My daughter has gained the knowledge and confidence to figure out melodies on her own and write it out to play again later. My youngest will definitely study with Yamaha, as well. I wholeheartedly recommend Wheaton Yamaha.

The Wheaton Yamaha Music School is best music option for young students! My little cousins are currently enrolled, and they simply love the program (their parents do too!). They would come home and play or sing their repertoire for hours at a time. The Yamaha curriculum is carefully designed to meet the children at their age level. Also, the teachers are more than qualified, and, above all, they love the students deeply. I highly recommend the Wheaton Yamaha Music School!

Our daughter has loved being a part of the Wheaton Yamaha School! She's excited to go make music every week. As musicians, my husband and I are very particular about our daughter's musical education. What we love about the school is that the teachers are instilling in each student a lifelong love of music and music making, rather than relying on rote memorization of musical pieces. Students are giving the building blocks for music that they'll use for their whole lives.
