lessons from the Metro Drum School are individual to your needs as a student, whether you are in grade school or as an adult. While method books and other teaching aids are used, lessons are by necessity un-scripted and personal. Our lessons follow the natural development of the student, taking into acount the student's needs and interests, while following a classic, fundamental approach to drum instruction.

Our students are taught in a way that emphasizes natural movement, energy management, and grip development, to assist with speed and facility around the instrument, while minimizing injury and maximizing power and endurance.

Gary Lefrancois

Founder

A native of Orange County, California, Gary Lefrancois started playing drums at age 11, studying with the noted drum guru Freddie Gruber, and was playing professionally at age 16. He lists his influences as "anyone good" - Louie Bellson, Buddy Rich, Philly Jo Jones, Elvin Jones, and Tony Williams, to name a few.
