Academy Of Music Our mission is to provide everyone, no matter their age or experience, an enriching music education through instrumental or vocal study, ensemble participation and/or music classes.

Established in 1995, the Academy of Music is Richmond's premiere classically based music school and has taught hundreds of students to develop their musical talents by providing lessons, classes, ensemble opportunities, summer programs, master classes and workshops in music, as well as free concerts and special cultural events. The Academy of Music offers quality music education in a supportive environment so children and adults can discover, enjoy, explore and expand their musical abilities. Any student is welcome here, from the complete novice to the professional.

Private Instruction
Report
Private Instruction Private instruction is a crucial element in the proper skill development for both vocalist and instrumentalist. We offer private lessons in piano, voice, guitar, harp, flute and winds, strings, percussion, organ and brass. Students receive individual attention and training that emphasizes rapid technical growth, as well as artistic and personal growth. Our private teacher will work with you individually in lessons a half hour, 45 minutes, or an hour in length.

Harp
Founder and director, Lynnelle Ediger-Kordzaia, is a nationally recognized educator. She has taught the harp, voice and piano and directed harp ensembles and children's choirs for over 20 years. In 1999 she founded the American Youth Harp Ensemble (AYHE). The AYHE continues to dazzle audiences around the world as America’s premier youth harp ensemble.
Ron Alig
Ron Alig
Guitar
Ron Alig has been playing classical guitar in the greater Richmond area as well as northern VA for the past 4.5 years. He has a Bachelor degree in Music Performance from the VCU School of Music where he studied with David Toussaint and John Patykula. In 2007 he joined the Richmond Guitar Quartet and has performed for the Charlottesville Guitar Society, Randolph-Macon College, the VCU Guitar Series, as well as many other concerts and events in the area.

Harp & Piano
Grace Bauson, a doctoral candidate in harp performance, has performed extensively as a soloist and ensemble player. She won fourth place in the 2004 Anne Adams National Harp Competition and was a national finalist for a Fulbright Award in 2005. In 2008 she was a semi-finalist in the William C. Byrd International String Competition and a winner of the Ball State University Graduate Concerto Competition.

Strings & Music Theory
Violinist Amanda Ellerbe is a graduate of the Master of Music Teaching program at the Oberlin Conservatory of Music, where she was the recipient of the Clifford Cook Memorial Merit Scholarship in String Music Education, Statler Walker Scholar, director of the Camerata Chamber Orchestra (a training orchestra for young musicians), and assistant director of Oberlin’s String Preparatory Program.
