ABC's Faculty includes 31 experienced professional musicians who are active in national and international performance. In addition, over a dozen of our music teachers are credentialed with PhD, Masters, or BA Degrees. All of our music teachers have been teaching music professionally for over 10 years.

Stan Houston

Guitar, Ukulele, Voice

Stan has been teaching for over twenty-five years. He attended Cal State Hayward in the early ‘70’s where he studied guitar from Jim Bertram. He also studied with Norman Meacham as his principal flamenco and Brazilian jazz teacher.

Clif Foster

Violin

Clif grew up in the Chicago area where he attended the American Conservatory of Music. His further classical studies were with Paul Makanowitzky and the Meadowmount School. He has played under such highly regarded conductors as Carlo Maria Giulini, Georg Solti and Daniel Barenboim and is a tenured member of the San Francisco Ballet Orchestra.

Derek Jones

Guitar

Derek has been in music just about his entire life. He studied music in high-school and went on to college to earn a BA in Music. By day, Derek devotes his time to building and trouble-shooting electronic effects devices for the revered music manufacturer Dunlop.

Heather Petree

Piano

Heather’s passionate approach to music and teaching has been inspired through many different avenues in her 32 years of playing the piano. Her ability to perform and teach all styles of music, including classical, jazz, blues, pop and contemporary Christian worship, has been developed through intense studies, and a unique giftedness that began when she was 6 years old.

Monica Torres

Piano

Monica has been teaching piano for over 15 years in the East Bay. She is a former teacher of the Academy of Music in Vallejo and Piedmont Piano company in Oakland. She received music instruction from private piano teachers in the East Bay, among them, Guy Arrostuto, Diane Donovan, and Dean Friedrich.
