Located in historic downtown Covington, LAAPA School of Music & Dance - Covington proudly serves more than 200 students drawn from across the Northshore region, including Bush, Folsom, Franklinton, Hammond, Madisonville, Mandeville, and Slidell, Louisiana. We are also pleased to welcome dedicated students traveling from Mississippi communities such as Carriere, Picayune, and Gulfport. Our newly constructed, state-of-the-art campus along Highway 437 is now open and includes multiple music studios, a dedicated dance studio featuring a floating Marley floor, and a 100-seat performance theater designed for showcases and recitals.To encourage artistic growth and accessibility, we provide a comprehensive range of educational advantages designed for both beginners and advanced learners. Students may choose between online and in-person attendance for maximum convenience, while benefiting from the largest variety of music programs available in the area. Our university-trained faculty are passionate educators committed to instruction. We maintain thoroughly sanitized studios and equipment between each session, supported by hospital-quality HVAC systems utilizing Global Plasma Solutions and Nu-Calgon technology, the same standards used by leading institutions such as Harvard University and government facilities. We serve children and adults at all skill levels, offer makeup workshops for missed lessons, provide weekly 45-minute music theory classes at no additional cost, and include an annual free studio recording session. Additionally, we operate an in-house educational printing press, offer faculty-published teaching methods, and provide optional performance opportunities for all students.

Piano Lessons program offers structured private instruction for students ages five through adult. Our instructors guide learners of all levels through progressive, engaging sessions tailored to individual goals and musical styles. Lessons emphasize technical skills, music theory, and expression. Students benefit from flexible scheduling, optional enrichment classes, and performance opportunities throughout the year. 
We deliver a structured guitar instruction program spanning beginner, intermediate, and advanced levels for learners focused on musical growth. Our professional instructors develop personalized curricula that promote consistent progress and are adjusted to each students experience and stylistic preferences. Instruction is available for acoustic and electric guitar players. We emphasize building core technique alongside musical confidence in every lesson. 
We offer voice lessons that recognize the human voice as a uniquely versatile instrument with diverse tone, timbre, and range. Our established program serves the Greater New Orleans area with a faculty of over 26 instructors across three campuses. Private weekly sessions of 30, 45, or 60 minutes emphasize technique, performance skills, and musical development. 
Our violin program serves kids, teens, and adults seeking structured musical training. We are committed to personalized instruction that adjusts to each student's progress in every session. Lessons progress from essential skills to more advanced violin techniques under expert guidance. Students ultimately gain technical ability and a strong appreciation for the instrument. 
Our drum and percussion lessons serve students from age five through adult, offering instruction on drum set, cymbals, snare drum, and multiple auxiliary percussion instruments such as tambourine, shakers, triangle, bells, and woodblocks. We also guide students in mastering various grooves across rock, pop, country, jazz, and Latin styles or other styles as desired too. 
Ballet classes are scheduled throughout the week for students beginning at age four, offered across Covington, Harahan, and Mandeville campuses. We regard ballet as the essential foundation of dance and encourage every student to start in this program. Each class builds knowledge of positions, techniques, and terminology. Performances include Spring recital and Christmas Show featuring choreography. 
Our Hip Hop classes are offered throughout the week for students ages 5 and older and skill development opportunities. This energetic style blends jazz and African influences seen in pop culture. We provide a family-friendly environment with carefully appropriate music in every class. Students build rhythm, style, and technique for future performances and additional opportunities.

I got started again playing and continued playing the piano thanks to having a great instructor in Annabelle.
I tried to teach my self the basics several times, since this was not my first instrument, but was never successful. Annabelle brought me up to speed very quickly and I would recommend her to both younger students and adult students.

Great instruction! My daughter has been in the Preschool Music program for nearly four years (since age 1) and has loved every bit of it. Her cousin recently joined the class with her, and they both can't wait for their lesson each week. We're looking forward to the girls participating in the Christmas recital this year, as it will be a very special experience for the the two of them and for our entire family. We're looking forward to continuing our daughter's music instruction for many years to come, and can't wait for her to begin dance in the near future as well!

LAAPA has been a wonderful experience for my daughter, Gina, and myself. She has learned to play the violin...and her teacher is wonderful. Gina has won a trophy in her first concert and has made us very proud. I am well pleased with the school and would recommend it to any aspiring music lover. Gina also studies theory and is doing well. Having studied music and taught as well I can say that I am well pleased with her progress.

I play the guitar and piano. I have attended the Mandeville School of Music for about two years. The teachers are amazing and make my lessons amusing. They make you learn while having fun. Having great lessons pushes me to practice more. My parents are very proud of me, and I enjoy being taught at LAAPA.

My son has wanted to play the piano since he could talk. I finally gave in last year when he turned 11. Dr. Vera has been amazing! She listens to his interests and allows that to drive what pieces he learns. I've been very happy with this. My only "negative comment" is that they don't have any discounts I my son wanted lessons 2x a week. We would have to pay the full amount for all the lessons.

My 2 year old loves movement, so I was looking for a dance program that catered to toddlers. I found LAAPA, and after doing some online research, I called. A young lady answered ALL of my questions. Believe me, I had lots of questions. Hubby and I decided to put the little one in Parent and Me Ballet. Although it says Parent and Me, it is geared to help the tots learn the foundation of ballet.
Miss Mollie, her dance instructor, is a sweetheart! There are anywhere from 3-5 girls, and she is keeps them moving. She has so much patience, and her energy and smile makes any little one comfortable. My daughter loves coming here especially since Mommy and Daddy get to participate (a little).

LAAPA is an AMAZING music and dance school for all ages. They are very kid friendly. I have 2 kids, ages 6 and 9 who loves going to their music classes. We have been members at LAAPA going on 3 years at least. My daughter started with piano, and has moved on to drums and guitar with Mr. Bill, whom she loves and adores. And my 6 year old son started with violin at the age of 5, and really loves his teacher Ms. Denise.
They are both 5 Star teachers in my book. I definitely recommend this school to anyone, including kids with special needs. I have watched in AMAZEMENT how they work great with all walks of life. They are a blessing. Thank you for all you all do :-

I have been taking lessons from Chris Talley and want to pass on how much I have learned and enjoyed working with him. I am an older student who has never played an instrument or studied music before so I was worried about being able to finally attempt something I have always wanted to do - play guitar, in my case bass guitar. He has not only paced my learning perfectly but he has also made it fun! I highly recommend him!
