Piano Lessons
Our piano lessons cater to all skill levels, offering instruction in classical, jazz, and popular styles. Students develop technical proficiency, music theory, and performance skills through personalized instruction. Our teachers adapt lessons to individual goals, whether for recreational playing or advanced study.
Guitar Lessons
Guitar lessons include acoustic, electric, and bass instruction. Students learn chord progressions, scales, sight-reading, and improvisation techniques. Our curriculum balances technical development with repertoire based on personal musical preferences, ensuring engaging and effective lessons.
Singing Lessons
Voice lessons focus on breath control, pitch accuracy, vocal range expansion, and performance techniques. Students explore classical, pop, musical theatre, and other styles while developing healthy vocal habits in a supportive environment.
Violin Lessons

Founder & CEO
Olesya MacNeil founded Music Teacher LA in 1991 with a Master's in Music, Psychology, and Pedagogy. She has trained hundreds of students, including children of celebrities, and established rigorous teacher selection standards for the school.
Carol
Piano and Voice Teacher
Carol holds a Bachelor of Music from UC Santa Barbara, with performance experience in classical operas and concert works. She brings decades of teaching experience to her piano and voice instruction.
Liam
Music Instructor
Liam holds a UCLA degree in Music with honors, combining piano teaching with film composition and production work. He has instructed students of all ages since 2016 with diverse musical approaches.
Questions
Do you offer in-home lessons for all instruments?
We provide in-home instruction for piano, guitar, voice, violin, drums, and ukulele across Los Angeles. Our teachers bring instruments when appropriate for beginner lessons.
What qualifications do your instructors have?
All teachers hold music degrees, are U.S. citizens, and pass our rigorous selection process that includes performance ability, teaching experience, and personality assessment.
Are recitals mandatory for students?
While optional, our recital parties provide valuable performance experience. Students receive trophies, goodie bags, and opportunities to celebrate musical progress in a supportive environment.
Can adults take lessons?
Absolutely! We offer lessons for adults of all experience levels, with flexible scheduling available seven days a week to accommodate busy professional schedules.
How long are typical lessons?
Lesson durations range from 30 to 60 minutes based on age and skill level, with 30 minutes for young beginners and 60 minutes for advanced/college-bound students.

When we first contacted Music Teacher L.A. three years ago, Olesya said she represented only 'the best of the best.' This was quickly proven true. We were delighted with the violin teacher she sent us. Haruka is not only an accomplished musician but a superb teacher as well - great with young people. Our son has recently been accepted by a prestigious youth orchestra. We attribute a good deal of his rapid development to Haruka's talent and the professionalism of MTLA.

I had been looking to get back into vocals and I contacted Music Teacher LA to help me find a teacher. They were quick and efficient in finding a teacher that worked with me and my schedule and style. Carol has been a godsend. She's patient, explains things multiple times in multiple ways until I get it, and also has an awesome voice. She's willing to teach me any song I'm interested in and she has introduced me to plenty of new material.

My 5 year old son Benjamin has been taking lessons with Music Teacher LA for about 5 months now - and he's gone from a reluctant participant to an excited learner. Our teacher, Gabrielle, has been patient, sweet, and has struck a good balance between teaching music and having fun. They break down the components of reading sheet music and playing the piano in an extremely child-friendly way. Olesya checked in multiple times in the early going to make sure we were satisfied, which meant a lot to us - and they've been very flexible with postponing the occasional class due to conflicts or vacations. Benjamin now asks to practice, and looks forward to his weekly lessons - can't ask for more than that.

My son, 10 y.o. has been taking piano lessons with Laura from MusicTeacher LA since March, 2016. Before Music Teachers LA we had to change a couple of piano teachers. I wish I could find Music Teacher LA earlier! I was referred to Olesya McNeil, Founder & CEO Music Teacher LA in March, 2016 and she helped me with Laura so quick!.
Laura is very knowledgeable, patient and creative! She finds songs that they want to play while teaching the theory and ear training. Laura challenges and motivates my son.

He enjoys playing the piano! I really appreciate Laura's approach. Also Music Teachers LA organizes wonderful recitals for kids and families twice a year. I think it's very important for students and their parents. I highly recommend Music Teacher LA if you want your children to explore and deepen their knowledge of music for life! My daughter started her violin classes a year ago. We went through tiredness and fun the same time. I like the way how Gabriele finds different ways to make the lesson fun and less complicated for my 5 years old. I like the flexibility of teacher and I like her as a person. Our goal - to perform with other kids in May :)

We have been with Music Teacher LA for a couple of year now and love the teachers! Olesya, the owner, if fabulous too! No matter what time or day you call, she will pick up or call you back very soon. As to the teachers, my daughter is picky but we've found several that she loves! She takes piano and she's done voice coaching as well.

We are so happy to have found Gabrielle with Music Teacher LA! My daughters both take lessons from her. My 13-year-old takes piano lessons and my 11-year-old takes violin lessons. She comes right to our house and does the lessons back-to-back, which is so convenient and easy for me.
Gabrielle is warm, patient, and has a great sense of humor. She has them choose some of the pieces they play and this has greatly encouraged them to explore on their own to develop their sense of what music they enjoy playing.

I hear them testing out tunes in their free time. Neither girl has taken lessons before and it is so nice that their first experience with music lessons is positive and fun. The girls are practicing daily without any prompting from me, and they look forward to their weekly lessons. They are also very much looking forward to their first-ever recital. We love Gabrielle!

Music Teacher LA is awesome! I have been taking violin lessons with Joe for several months. He is a great teacher, and I've learned a lot from him. I had no experience before I took the lessons. So don't worry if you know nothing about instruments and music theory like me. They will take good care of you. Joe not only teaches me how to play but also encourages me and guides me to enjoy playing and music. The most important thing is to GET STARTED! It's never too late to start learning something new. My 6-year-old began piano lessons with Justin about 2 months ago and it's been going very well. We're almost completely through the first series of books and are still practicing every day. Our instructor is local, very knowledgeable, totally approachable and flexible with our ever-changing pace. I definitely recommend MTLA.

I am an adult piano learner with little prior music training and a busy life schedule. Mitchell is great in cultivating my interest and persistence in practicing while keeping the right pace. My daughter loves her piano teacher and is very much enjoying her lessons. She looks forward to showing her teacher every week how much she has improved from her practicing, and her teacher is so encouraging and patient. Having the lessons in our home is also very convenient. Olyesia is also very flexible and helpful with the scheduling, on those occasions when we have to skip a lesson - as I have to travel frequently for work.

We completed our 1st official lesson, and I feel very excited about our new instructor Luisa for violin/piano. My daughter is 4 and the teacher was able to keep her engaged and connected for the entire 1 hour lesson. We had tried a few instructors who were great at music but not warm enough to have a good connection with our young child. The price is very competitive and the convenience of in home lessons is great. Thank you Music Teacher LA, look forward to my daughter growing with you guys for many moons to come.

Just bought a very old Baldwin upright and didn't know if even the best piano tuner could get her sounding like new. Well, I did find the best piano tuner and within two hours of her diligent work, it sounded like it just came off the showroom floor! I highly recommend Yoshi from Music Teacher LA! In addition to being a miracle worker, she is simply a lovely and charming woman.
