Charles Lumpkins

I have been teaching piano for 15 years to students of all ages and skill levels. I approach students individually, working off current musical interests and level of ability to meet their musical goals. Further I integrate music history and theory into lessons with interested students (I hold a B.A. in Music: ethnomusicology concentration) and am delighted to share my knowledge of musical technology (audio interfaces, MIDI, recording, etc.) gleaned from my work as composer/songwriter.

I have performance experience, both as a soloist (classical music recitals and pop/jazz/rock/folk music in small venues), and as a member of bands (swing jazz ensemble, funk and soul band, acoustic rock duo, choir, and gamelan ensemble). Other relevant teaching experiences are 4 semesters of small group piano instruction in a middle school (CLC Charter School in State College PA), and 2 semesters of small group piano instruction at an elementary school (State College Area Friends School).
