Our non-profit community music school is based at the Joy Faith Knapp Music Center in Chicago's West Loop. Our skilled faculty provides high-quality music education to youth from newborns to teens regardless of their ability to pay. Armed with years of experience and degrees from major conservatories and music schools, our educators are committed to helping young people succeed in music and life.

The effectiveness of Merits education has been demonstrated year after year as students and alumni use their experience to achieve personal success, whether through music or another pursuit.

Merits Early Childhood learning environment is playful, developmentally appropriate and musically rich. We incorporate song, chant, movement exercises and instrument play to develop a childs imagination, musical awareness and expressiveness. Our programs support a childs first steps in a lifetime journey of musical appreciation that inspires them to participate in our Instrumental Music program and eventually the Alice S. Pfaelzer Tuition-free Conservatory.

Private lessons are a key component to reaching ones full music potential as a musician. Merit School of Musics faculty provides students with expert private instruction on all instruments for classical and jazz music. All ages and levels of musical ability are welcome.
