Guitar Decatur is an inviting and comfortable music instruction studio where our guitar and bass instructors are dedicated to helping you reach your goals across a wide range of styles from Rock, Jazz, Blues, Bluegrass, Songwriting, Classical guitar and more.

At Guitar Decatur, you can find everything from private one-on-one lessons, group classes, and a variety of seminars and master classes. The goal of each instructor is to design lessons around their client's ability and appeal to their musical interests. Lessons are available to all ages and levels.

Our instructors have experience performing and teaching in a variety of settings, including universities, music schools, and private instruction and have taken certain elements from each experience to create a unique studio in the heart of Decatur.

Eddie Minjarez

Acoustic & Electric Guitar, Ukulele

Eddie’s dedication to music and guitar has earned him a spot as a highly sought after guitarist and teacher in the Atlanta area. He has played guitar for over 28 years and has over 15 years’ experience teaching and performing.

Francisca Vanherle

Voice

Francisca Vanherle was born in Argentina but grew up in Belgium. She studied at the Royal Conservatorium in Brussels, where she obtained both a Bachelor’s and a Master’s Degree in Vocal Arts and a diploma in Vocal Pedagogy.

Katerina Lewis

Viola & Violin

Katerina Lewis earned her Bachelor of Music degree in viola performance (magna cum laude) from Converse College in Spartanburg, SC in 2007 and graduated in 2009 with a Master of Music degree in viola performance (summa cum laude) from Georgia State University.

Lauren Allain

Acoustic & Electric Guitar

Lauren began playing her dad’s old nylon string guitar at age 11. While in college, she decided on a career in music and studied classical guitar at James Madison University where she received her Bachelors in Guitar Performance. Lauren continued her studies at the University of Texas at Austin with Adam Holzman and there, earned a Master of Music.

Derek McCoy

Electric & Acoutsic Guitar

Derek McCoy has been playing guitar for 20 years, after falling in love with the instrument at the age of 11. He moved to Atlanta from North Carolina in 1999 to study at the Atlanta Institute of Music. Since graduating he has become an accomplished jazz guitarist and shared the stage with some of the best musicians Atlanta has to offer along with leading his own jazz trio.
